The Carhartt Difference

A Foundation Built On Strength
The first Carhartt clothes were made of denim and canvas duck- a cotton woven fabric prized for its strength and durability; qualities that Carhartt highly values even today. While the company continues to manufacture several styles from these fabrics, the Carhartt catalog offers a wide range of products from high-tech t-shirts that wick away moisture and odor in warm conditions to arctic-quality outerwear to flame-resistant apparel.

Carhartt clothing is known for its comfort, fit and especially its durability. Long before Carhartt fabrics become garments, the company puts them through rigorous testing to meet their high standards for durability. Some of its most popular apparel includes jeans, outerwear and flame-resistant clothing.

Jeans
Carhartt jeans are designed to last. For example, belt loops are sewn on side seams for extra strength; pocket bags are sewn on turned inside out and sewn again to keep valuables safe; and back pockets are reinforced for durability. These, and other details, help deliver superior performance through the seasons.

“The best wearing pants I’ve ever worn.”

Outerwear
Fabric and styles may vary, but Carhartt outerwear always delivers durability, performance and comfort. Outerwear is available in 100% cotton duck, polyester-backed PVC, waterproof breathable, soft shell or Work-Flex, which features two-way stretch for comfort. Many outerwear styles include details like heavy-duty zippers, triple-stitched seams, detachable hoods and fleece-lined pockets.

“Nothing comes close to the quality, durability and comfort of this jacket. It works.”
– Glen Drapes. Oak Creek, Wisconsin

Flame-Resistant Clothing
Carhartt flame-resistant clothing is designed to help protect workers from burns caused by electric arc flashes and flash fires. Flame-resistant clothing is only as good as the fabric that goes into it; that’s why Carhartt sources fabric from industry leader, Mount Vernon Mills. At Carhartt’s request, they manufacture FR fabrics to Carhartt specifications for enhanced performance. They also ensure the durability of Carhartt FR fabrics by performing vertical flame tests after 200 industrial launderings – twice the industry standard.

“I have over 50 people wearing Carhartt flame-resistant clothing and no one would change to another brand.”
-Alan Beasley. Wilmington, North Carolina

A Tradition For Generations To Come
For more than a century, Carhartt has manufactured premium apparel known for exceptional durability, comfort and quality of construction. As founder, Hamilton Carhartt said, “(Carhartt is) building our business for the years, not for a season or two.” Carhartt products continue to set new industry standards for comfort and durability and will be worn and enjoyed by generations to come.
