Ever watch concrete being poured? I like watching that slow gray soup flowing
into the frame, how the guy with that stick strokes it smooth. Makes me want to
stamp my Big Paw right in the middle of it!

I like construction for the same reason these guys do: They’re wearing Carhartt
long-sleeved shirts. Carhartt is the uniform when you’re carrying bulky items with
sharp edges. The thick cotton protects you from scrapes and burns. And that’s not
all.

Apart from the heat wave blistering the states these last few weeks, mornings
can be chill. Slip on Carhartt’s long-sleeved workwear Henley (K-128), and you
won’t need a jacket. Just grab a cup of joe and hit the road. Oh, and don’t worry
about heating up later in the day: If it’s 90 in the shade at 10 am and you’re out
hammering walls, it’s a good idea to protect your skin from those UV rays. Yeah,
tough guys, you gotta take care.

Covering up in the heat sound odd to you? Me too, hey, check out my pelt. But I
have a friend in Arizona who swears by these long-sleeved tees. He tells me, “I
wear these shirts all year round. They are so comfortable and don’t shrink no
matter how many washes you put them through.”

Carhartt protection – it keeps you from having an on the job injury,
which is just like losing a cat’s life.

Hey – it’s good to meet you. My name’s Big Paw, that’s MISTER Big Paw to you,
buddy, on account we ain’t been introduced.

Put out your hand, let’s shake. Yeah, yeah, I know, I got big paws. I’m a
polydactyl, got me a 6 paw claw – and that makes me pretty dang special.

I’m a rarity, and that’s why I like to talk up Carhartt clothes. You might not know
this, but, how they make their shirts and jeans? A regular rarity, as in they do
it right. Every piece is made from high quality cotton, reinforced seams, solid
zippers, buttons that won’t come off. Carhartt clothes are the good stuff this
country was raised on.

Who wears Carhartt? Good ole boys (and girls) and big cats like me. Anyone in the
trades: Construction, oil rigs, manufacturing. Janitors, health care workers, even
weekend players, you know, the folks who go out hunting and fishing.

I like Carhartt, it keeps you warm, and safe. Man, the stuff does not wear out. It’s
like a second set of skin, and who doesn’t need that every now and again? I know I
sure do.

What’s that you say? What’s a cat doing in Carhartt?
Well, let me tell you: I used to have 9 lives. Now I’m down to 3. I probably
wouldn’t even be standing here today, dipping catnip, if it wasn’t for Carhartt.
Every mishap – every little misadventure – every time I singed my dang fluffy tail
– I was wearing Carhartt.

I’ll tell you all about it sometime – you mean now? You got the time? Well, sure,
yeah, I can hang. Have a seat – yeah, yeah the recliner’ll do. Put your feet up, and
let’s sip us some milk while I fill you in on the Big Paw facts.
All settled? Ok, shoot.

I was born in Detroit. Dee-troyt. Oh, some years ago. I ain’t saying. My daddy
worked for Ford, he was a mouser there, long before they started using spray
chemicals. He was a big cat, but not as big as me. I am the largest Maine Coon
cat in the family, tipping the scales at 18 pounds. And I’m the only one with extra
claws. Yeah, yeah, they’re sharp – wanna see? Oh, sorry about that…want some
catnip? It’ll take the sting out. Darn this stuff, it’s addicting.

Doc says I should go on a diet, so I started eating sushi. Man, the things we do to
stay in shape. Stuff’s ok, I guess, but when I can get out on the water, it’s all about
trout for me. Do I fish for wild salmon? On account of my size? Well let me tell
you – that’s how I lost one of my lives. We’ll get to that in a bit.

Am I afraid of water? Only when I’m in it. I’m not too keen on kayaking, ok?
Got a buddy who fell in one time, splashed him up pretty good. He was wearing
Carhartt and it stopped him from getting hypothermia. Good on, right? Fur sure.
No, I got me a sweet Catamaran, it’s docked in the sunshine, on some beach in
Florida. I don’t sail myself, my claws tend to tear the line. I just snooze on the
deck, let guys like you swing the sails. Let me know if you’re interested in coming
out there some time.

Music? Oh, you bet. I play the drums, used to play with Cat Stevens. What’s that
you say? Ba-Loney? You think I’m pulling your tail? Well, maybe. I got a lot of
tail to pull – just look at it.

What else you got? You want to hear more about Carhartt? About how I lost my
lives? Can do good buddy. I got some great stories to share.

You know what I like to say? Curiosity created the Cahartt cat!
